Umm Al Quwain University visit to Dubai Municipality

The GIS Center Department welcomed a delegation from Umm Al Quwain University to introduce students to the GIS field, and brief them about the Geospatial Business and Innovation Incubator (GeoHub), which is the specialized arm in research, development and geospatial innovation. The visit included a tour in the geospatial experiments area, to view the most important services and projects implemented by the center, such as Dubai Digital Twin, Dubai Horizons project, and Makani project for addressing indoor units. The students were briefed on the Geospatial Scanning Vehicle (GeoLidar) and the drone. During the visit, GISCD employees presented the UAE National strategy for artificial intelligence and how the GIS Center utilize this technology, the students were provided with practical and technical examples that are implemented on various projects. Moreover, students got the chance to know the types of electronic maps provided by the center to extract data and the most prominent applications designed for internal departments in Dubai Municipality and external entities that help in decision-making and contribute to raising customer happiness. At the end of the visit, the students presented their innovative projects that simulate the most important geospatial systems and applications, which contribute to geospatial development, anticipate the future, and simulate the most important digital solutions. ​​
