Dubai Municipality represented by the GIS Center received the Construction Technology Award 2021, during the 3rd Construction Technology Festival Conference which was held in Dubai between 1st and 2nd June 2021.
The award aims to celebrate new approaches and best-in-class use of technology within the built environment. It looks for outstanding examples of technology implementation, transformation and leadership that have helped design, build or operate projects better.
Eng. Maryam Al Muhairi the director of GIS Center received the woman in construction technology of the year award for her role in leading the initiative of digital transformation in building and construction sector in Dubai using Building Information Modeling (BIM).
The initiative included executing a BIM implementation road map, development of BIM submission guidelines, automated code compliance checking engine, and BIM-to-GIS integration. Through the initiative also, Dubai Municipality has established a group to lead the digital transformation in building and construction sector in the Emirate of Dubai to coordinate the efforts between the government entities and private establishments in order to develop a unified vision and standards for building information modeling. These activities resulted in the selection of Dubai represented by Dubai Municipality to host UAE Chapter of BuildingSMART International as the first country in the region to host such chapter.
